cruise ship port schedule

Terminal 5 is the homeport for ships of RCI-Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, NCL-Norwegian, Marella UK. On December 9, 2018 (Sunday), the port reported its ultimate one-day record for cruise shipping traffic - 52,000 passengers. In June 2017, the port invested USD 38,4 million for purchasing 3x container-handling gantry cranes (serving the world's largest Super Post-Panamax container carriers/boxships) priced USD 13,8 million each. This class of cargo vessels can carry up to 10,500 TEU-containers each. Port Everglades' capacity improvements project was budgeted USD 437,5 million, and included construction of new berths (for larger cargo vessels) and installing a new rail infrastructure for new gantry cranes.

Downtown has USA's largest concentration of international banks, large national and multinational corporations. It contributes annually with around USD 43 billion to the economy and supports over 334,000 jobs countrywide. For Terminal 25's new design was contracted the company "Bermello Ajamil and Partners". In August 2015, commissioners approved USD 81 million port development project for upgrades of terminals 5 and 10, aimed at handling larger-sized vessels (details in the "terminal" section below). The project's financing was secured through bank loans and bonds.

Departures

Port Cape Liberty is in close proximity to EWR-Newark Liberty Airport (10 mi / 16 km to the west, ~20-min travel time by car) and easy to access, skipping NYC's heavy traffic and bridges. The shore-to-ship electric power supply project was first announced in 2011. At the top of all the piers, there is a building with dedicated parking lots, snack bars, restrooms, check-in, VIP areas, customs, newsstands. PortMiami's "Terminal V" was officially opened/inaugurated on February 13, 2022.

Port's FY2017 total revenues were USD 47,4 million (freight and passengers). The new "Terminal A" facility is sized 170,000 ft2 (15,800 m2) and is able to handle the world's largest passenger ships of the OASIS-class. According to the MoU (memorandum of understanding) between Royal Caribbean and Miami-Dade County, the Terminal's completion date was July 31, 2018. By the deal, RCCL leased the land and financed the whole project. RCCL was responsible for the Terminal's design and construction of the facilities (including parking garages with combined capacity 1000 vehicles).

Following President Trump's executive order on immigration, in the end of January 2017 Port Everglades officials reported cruise tourists being detained by US Customs and Border Protection. The new President's order was signed on Jan 27, and included a 90-day ban on travel to the USA by citizens of Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen. Port Everglades is one of the USA's main cruise departure (turnaround) ports for Caribbean roundtrip itineraries.

PortMiami Deep Dredge project (budget USD 180 million, completed in 2016) increased the harbor's max draft to 15 m (48 ft) allowing access to Super Post Panamax boxships after the Panama Canal expansion completion. In Miami is also headquartered CMI-Cruise Management International and its subsidiary CMI Leisure (smaller-sized and expedition cruise ship management company). Since 2022, CMI is owned by Anglo-Eastern (1974-founded company that manages 600+ vessels/crew recruitment and management, technical services). In 2017 started discussions for turnaround operations by vessels of Virgin Voyages and NCL-Norwegian. However, Carnival Cruise Line remained the Port’s largest customer (2+ million passengers in 2017).

The northern part of Port Everglades is called Northport (with terminals 2 and 4). The cruise port's central area is called Midport (terminals 18, 19, 21, 25, 26, 29). In 2014, the seaport generated USD 28+ billion and was accounted for over 224,000 jobs throughout Florida.

The port also receives salt for water softening, lumber, automobiles, steel sheets and plates. Its Foreign Trade Zone is one of the nation's largest general-purpose FTZs, more than 13 km2 (5 mi2). Miami is also among the most fortunate ports where newest cruise ships make show-off visits and many schedule inaugural homeporting seasons. Port's facilities are among the most modern, providing easy processing and boarding. PortMiami serves 20+ cruise companies and 60+ different passenger ships. RCG (which also owns Celebrity Cruises) homeported Celebrity Edge here, starting turnaround operations in 2018 (on December 1st).

For the projects were allocated USD 14,76 million (Canaveral Harbor Sand Bypass and jetty upgrades) and USD 1,47 million (Harbor and Locks). Port Canaveral (cruise port to Orlando City, Florida USA) is currently ranked world's busiest cruise port (4,07 million cruisers/stats 2023) followed by Miami Florida. Season 2018 featured two large newbuild liners - Carnival Horizon ( GT-tons, 4700 passengers) and Norwegian Bliss ( GT-tons, 4900 passengers). Cruise ships and ferries in Port New York and New Jersey dock at the berths of Cape Liberty Cruise Port (Upper Bay, Bayonne NJ), Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (Upper Bay, NYC) and New York Passenger Ship Terminal (Hudson River, NYC).

The ceremony was attended by Richard Branson, Tom McAlpin and Daniella Levine Cava (Miami-Dade County Mayor). The new Terminal B has a dedicated waiting hall, separate bar lounge, service area, new parking garage, valet parking area (accessing the building directly). On May 2, 2017, was announced that Miami-Dade County commissioners approved the agreement with NCLH/Norwegian Cruise Line Holding for a new terminal at PortMiami. The opening ceremony was attended by Richard Fain (RCCL's CEO), Michael Bayley (RCI's CEO), Carlos Gimenez (Miami City Mayor), and Rebecca Sosa (Port Commissioner). On July 8, 2021, MSC and Fincantieri signed a contract for the construction of PortMiami's newest MSC Cruise Terminal.

The larger facility (an 8-level garage with capacity 1940 vehicles) is adjacent to Terminals 5 and 6, while the smaller one (a 6-level garage with capacity 1081 vehicles) is near Terminal 10. Port Cape Canaveral (locode USPCV) is located on Florida's Atlantic coastline, between Miami and Jacksonville. Orlando City is bounded by Port Canaveral (north), Banana River (east), Cocoa Beach (south) and the Atlantic Ocean (west). As a deepwater seaport, Port Canaveral has a very high volume of traffic.

In 2021, at the new CT3 Terminal was homeported Carnival's newest and largest (LNG-powered) liner Mardi Gras. In December 2017, Carnival Cruise Lines announced the homeporting of Carnival Elation in 2019. Starting May 12, 2019, the ship operates year-round scheduled 4-5-day "long weekend" Bahamas cruises.

FY2018 (Sept 2017-Sept 2018) was another (4th consecutive) record year, with 5,8% growth in containerized cargo volumes (total 1,084 million TEUs) and 4,7% increase in cruise shipping (total 5,592 million passengers). Cargo shipping growth was attributed to the seaport's USD 1 billion investments in infrastructure improvements that allowed handling of Post-Panamax ships (with min draft 12 m / 40 ft). In 2018, the port handled over 250 such vessels, following a deep dredging project and the installation of Super Post-Panamax gantry cranes. Cruise shipping growth was attributed to expanded business opportunities (adding 3 new cruise companies - Viking Ocean, Seabourn, Victory Cruise Lines), extended homeport seasons and homeporting larger passenger liners. The following timetable provides valuable information and keeps track of the future cruise shiparrivals from all major cruise lines. Inorder to find out more about the cruise ship itineraries such as ports, dates, and arrival/departuretimes just follow the ship’s link.

The facility is on the southern part of the Military Ocean Terminal, on an artificial peninsula east of NJ Route 440. In March 2006, some passenger terminals were transferred (as management) to DP World (Dubai-based corporation). The company "Port Authority of New York and New Jersey" was established in 1921 to manage all facilities and services within the combined NY-NJ harbor area. The company also controls all vehicular and rapid-transit systems connecting New York and New Jersey, several airports, as well as real estate developments. On November 28, 2018, Richard Branson (Virgin Group's Founder) and Tom McAlpin (Virgin Voyages' President and CEO) officially announced the plans for a new/exclusive cruise terminal in PortMiami.
